The Cape May County Zoological Society is excited to announce the kickoff of a fundraising campaign to support the Cape May County Park & Zoo in its efforts to build a new, world-class habitat for Humboldt Penguins and Chilean Flamingos.
This state-of-the-art habitat will be constructed at the site of the former World of Birds Aviary and will provide a home for 20 penguins and 30 flamingos, and is designed to reflect the natural environments of these incredible species, offering ample space, enrichment, and advanced care facilities. The project is part of the zoo's ongoing commitment to conservation, education, and providing exceptional animal care. Humboldt Penguins, native to South America, are threatened by habitat loss and overfishing, while Chilean Flamingos rely on increasingly fragile wetland ecosystems. This habitat will serve as a vital educational tool, helping visitors understand the challenges these species face and the importance of global conservation efforts.
