$1.4 Million Legacy Gift Secures Future for Cape May County Zoo

The Cape May County Zoo has received a record-breaking $1,435,787.59 bequest from longtime supporter Charles Muller of Edison, New Jersey. Muller, who passed away in 2022 at the age of 93, and his late wife, Elizabeth, developed a deep connection with the Zoo during their visits in the early 2000s, inspired by their affection for animals like Rocky, the Siberian tiger. After Elizabeth’s passing, Muller continued his support, building a lasting friendship with former Parks Director Michael Laffey. In his Will, Muller left his entire estate to ensure the animals’ care, habitats, and medical needs are met. His legacy stands as the largest single donation in the Zoo’s history, a testament to his lifelong love for wildlife.
